League Leaders Take 3 Points Over Oxnard

Saturday night was not one to remember and one that the Guerrero’s will look to sweep under the rug. FC Golden State was able to get on the scoresheet five times and keep the Guerrero’s scoreless.

FC Golden State got the scoring going in the 30th minute when the Guerreros gave up a free kick on the left edge of the eighteen. Marcelo Manfredini would be the man who would step up for the free kick. Manfredini was able to get the ball up over the wall and Oxnard’s goalkeeper Angel Cervantes stood no chance as it nestled in the back of the net.

It looked like Oxnard would be able to equalize before the half, but they lacked the final pass as they have in much of their games this season.

Both teams entered the half and the game was still in reach for the Guerrero’s as they trailed just 1-0.

FC Golden State would soon change that score line and put the game out of reach.

The second half would remain scoreless up until the 67th minute when FC Golden State’s Adrien Perez was able to cut in onto his favored right foot and curl it to the back post giving his team the 2-0 lead and the scoring was only just getting started.

“We broke down in the second half” Head Coach Juan Florez said. “They had a full squad and they took full advantage of it. They brought in many fresh legs and the few players that we had couldn’t handle it.”

The 72nd minute brought the third goal. Robert Coronado was able to get in behind the back line after a through ball found his feet. He made no mistake as he was able to tuck it home giving his team a 3-0 lead and all but bury the Guerrero’s hopes of any comeback.

Oxnard began to pack it up early and it resulted in a mistake by Cervantes as he gave away a ball and William George Fresier Baynham was able to get his first of the night in the 77th minute.

Just when Oxnard didn’t think it could get worse Fresier Baynham added a second in the 82nd as he collected a through ball and tucked it into the corner.

“Early in the second half we had about six chances to score goals but then they broke loose” Juan Florez said.

Oxnard would fall by a score of 5-0 in their final away game of the season.

Oxnard will look to finish the season strong when they return home for their final game as they welcome Temecula FC to Oxnard for a battle between two teams that sit at the bottom of the table.
